The project
Simkl knows where you left off. Watchbound shows you.
A reading of your Simkl library split by what you have to decide: what to carry on tonight, what to start, what you left behind.
Why it exists
If you watch a lot of shows you already have a tracker: it knows how many episodes you have seen and where you stopped. But when you open it to decide what to watch it gives you a list, and a list is not an answer.
The data is there, the reading is missing. Watchbound takes the library you already have on Simkl and puts it back in order by what you can do now, keeping anime, TV shows and movies apart.
How it reads your library
- Watch now
- Episodes you have not seen are out, or a title you marked to watch has just come out.
- To start
- You marked it to watch and never started it.
- Paused
- You paused it on Simkl, or you stopped months ago and nothing new is coming.
- Caught up
- You have seen everything that is out and are waiting for the next episode.
- Discover
- Sequels, new seasons, recommendations and titles trending on Simkl that are not in your list.
- Archive
- What you finished or dropped.
What it does on your Simkl account
- It reads your library, your progress and the release calendar.
- It writes only when you confirm: a status change from a title's page or from multiple selection, or a suggestion added to the ones to watch.
- It does not mark episodes or give ratings: you keep those on Simkl, or its extension marks them by itself while you watch.
Where your data stays
- The connection and the library copy stay in this browser: no Watchbound server receives them.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and country. It does not read your library.
- Cover images come from Simkl. If one fails to load, the browser tries the wsrv.nl image service, which keeps request logs for 7 days.
- In Settings you can disconnect Simkl and delete the connection, library and preferences from this device. Your Simkl account is unchanged.
Credits
- Library, calendar, recommendations and trends come from Simkl, through its API and its public files.
- The typefaces are Bricolage Grotesque and Manrope, under the SIL Open Font License. They are served from this site.
