How to use it

Open your Simkl account, enable automatic tracking and connect it to Watchbound.

How to create or import the account

Create a free Simkl account. If you already use another tracker, check the available import options.

Watchbound supports Simkl for TV shows, anime and films.

TV shows, anime and movies. Free. It has browser extensions and phone apps that mark things automatically. It works just as well if you are starting from scratch.

How to track what you watch

Install the Simkl browser extension or mobile app to update what you watch automatically.

On your computer

Install the browser extension. From then on, when you watch an episode on Netflix, Crunchyroll, Prime Video, Disney+ and others, it gets marked on its own.

On your phone

There are apps for Android and iPhone.

If you have a media server

It also connects to Plex, Kodi, Emby and Jellyfin: what you watch there gets marked the same way.

Connect Simkl to Watchbound

How the connection works

Press Connect Simkl, open the displayed address and enter the code. Watchbound then downloads your library.

The connection is for this device. On your phone you do it once more.

The first load may take a few minutes. Progress remains visible.

What you see, section by section

Three separate spaces

Anime, TV shows and movies each have their own page, menu and counts. They never mix: when you open Anime, TV shows simply are not there.

The sections, one by one
Watch now
Episodes that are out and you have not watched: first what you are watching, then what you marked to watch and is now out. Under each cover is the next episode; the tick button marks it watched on Simkl.
To start
What you added to your list but never opened. When it comes out, or its new season does, it moves to Watch now.
Paused
Titles on hold on Simkl or set aside based on your settings. Open a title to see and change its status on Simkl.
Discover
Titles you do not have in your lists: sequels to what you already finished, new seasons, what people who watch your stuff are watching, things that just started and the most watched this week on Simkl. From a title's page you can add it to the ones to watch.
Caught up
You have watched every episode that is out. When the next date is already known, it is written on the poster; when it is not, there is a check.
Archive
Completed or dropped titles. Dropped titles stay here even when more episodes arrive.
How movies work

Movies are grouped into To watch, Coming soon and Archive. Archive separates completed, dropped and previously deferred titles.

Sequels

If you finish a show and the sequel already exists, you find it here: even one that came out years ago, not just one airing now. The link is looked up by name, because Simkl does not declare which season follows which, so now and then it will pair up two that have nothing to do with each other: every suggestion's page has Not interested.

The thresholds, if you want to tweak them

Choose when a show moves from Watch now to Paused, and when it comes back. Shows you paused on Simkl stay in Paused whatever the thresholds. Changes apply immediately.

Questions

Does this site see my data?

No. It is made of static files only: no Watchbound server receives your library. The connection and the library stay in the memory of the browser you are using, and calls go straight to Simkl. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without reading the library. Anyone opening the same address sees only their own data.

Does anything change on my account?

Only when you ask. Tap a title's cover or name to open its page, with its status on Simkl. Pick the new status and press Apply on Simkl. For several titles press Select in the top bar, tick the covers or Select all results, then Change status. Search, category and status filter define the selection; changing them clears it. Movies have Plan to Watch, Completed and Dropped; anime and shows also Watching and On Hold.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, and it can be installed as an app: from the browser menu pick Add to Home Screen. From there it opens full screen, and it opens without a connection too. The connection has to be redone once on each device.

How often does it update?

On open, when you come back to the tab, every fifteen minutes while the page is open, and with the refresh button. Before downloading anything it asks whether something changed: if nothing changed, it stops there.

A title is in the wrong section.

Open the title's page: it shows the status on Simkl and the section it sits in on Watchbound, and you can change the status from there. Automatic sections depend on progress and the thresholds in Settings. If the page mentions a placement chosen earlier on this device, use Restore automatic placement.

The counts look wrong.

Settings, then Refresh the library. It redownloads the library from scratch.

I want to disconnect.

Settings, then Disconnect and delete data. It removes the connection, library and preferences from this device. Your Simkl account is unchanged.
